What is a Celebrant?
Celebrants create and deliver personalised ceremonies to mark life’s most meaningful moments, including weddings, funerals, naming ceremonies, vow renewals and more.
Celebrant-led ceremonies are not bound by tradition or rules. They can take place anywhere, at any time, and be shaped entirely around the people at the heart of the occasion. A celebrant’s role is to honour life’s milestones in ways that reflect individual beliefs, values and stories, encouraging creativity and authenticity.
Personalisation is at the core of every celebrant ceremony, ensuring that no two ceremonies are ever the same.
Can you legally marry us?
At present, celebrants in the UK are not legally authorised to conduct marriages. This simply means you’ll need to attend a Registry Office to complete the legal requirements and make your marriage official.
What is the difference between a Celebrant and a Registrar?
A Registrar conducts the legal marriage ceremony in the UK. These ceremonies must take place in a licensed venue, use fixed legal wording, and cannot include religious elements. Once the ceremony is complete, you are legally married.
A Celebrant creates a fully personalised wedding ceremony that reflects your story, values and beliefs. Celebrant ceremonies can take place at any location and at any time. They can include personal vows, readings and symbolic or religious elements. They are not legally binding in England and Wales, so the legal paperwork is completed separately at a Registry Office—often a day or week before.
Many couples choose to do the legal ceremony with a registrar and then enjoy a meaningful, personalised celebrant-led ceremony for their main celebration.
Can we involve friends and family with the ceremony?
Absolutely! This ceremony is about you and how you want to celebrate your love for one another. We will work together to make sure that your special day is exactly how you envision it. You want the dog to be the ring bearer – not a problem, your best friend from school to deliver a reading – lets select a reading.
Where do we start? There's so much to consider
When celebrating a milestone in your life, it can often feel overwhelming, as you will want it to be just perfect – I understand – I’ve been there! I will be there to guide you through the process. I have a wealth of knowledge on readings, poems, rituals – we will find exactly what you want to include. All of my ceremonies are unique and I can assure you that there will never be another one the same as yours. Many couples worry about what to include in their vows, but in my experience, once they get started, they usually find that everything they want to say, is in their hearts, and just needs to be put down onto paper.
